"The Palms on Turk Point"
"The Palms on Turks Point" is the permanent home
of Lois and Bob Robinson. The house was designed by The Eubanks
Group Architects and built in 2006 by Oceanwood Homes. It
was inspired by Bahamian plantation houses, with mullioned
windows, pastel color and a jumble of facets, gables and arcades.
Although new, it is intended to look as if it had been in
place for a hundred years. Inside the house, there is a long
list of interesting features you will want to look for.
Entry into the house is via a grand
three-story staircase. On the main floor one arrives into
a large living-kitchen-dining-entertainment room, which on
one side opens onto an enormous wrap-around deck and onto
a cozy screened-in porch on the other. Additional features
of the main floor include, his and hers home offices, a media
room, a large powder room and a walk-in pantry which opens
onto the neighborly back porch and back stairs.
Take the oversized elevator with the
glass door upstairs to the guest bedrooms - the romantic Mardi
Gras Suite and the adventurous Safari Suite. Also upstairs
is a luxurious master suite complete with a sumptuous bathroom
featuring a spectacular Gulf view, a midnight snack kitchen
and a private "star gazers" deck. From the deck
one can see the Gulf, Jamaica Beach and the bay.
On the ground floor check out the hobby
room, double garage, golf cart garage or take a rest at the
Tiki bar.
But don't miss the picnic park in the
backyard, complete with an aviary housing 16 parakeets, a
croquet lawn, a vegetable garden and fruit orchard.
Unseen, but very much a part of the
house, is a music and video system piped throughout the house
and a state-of-the-art video surveillance security system.
